Patient Support

Your doctor may put you in touch with an experienced peer – a person who has already adapted to life as an asthmatic, and can answer many of your questions with the authority of someone who has been there. He or she will provide helpful information while helping to relieve the strain on your doctor, who may not always have time for a thorough consultation. An experienced peer can also show you the way to valuable patient associations. Maybe you yourself will work as an experienced peer one day.

Of course your doctor will remain the person to contact if you feel your illness is getting worse – especially in an acute situation – or if you have any specific questions about your medication or therapy plan.

Regular consultations with your doctor form the basis of effective asthma management and disease control.

Take the therapy recommendations of your doctor seriously and always follow them; become your doctor's partner; and use the experience of your peers and the patient support kit to Learn to live with Asthma.
