Asthma
10 rules for coping with asthma
EFA has developed 10 rules to help you cope with your asthma:
- Accept your asthma
- Have respect for your breathing
- Make others respect your breathing
- Improve your knowledge of the disease
- Have a good partnership with your doctor
- Take part in defining the therapeutic plan
- Comply with treatment
- Undergo regular medical controls
- Prevention: avoid triggers or take measures to reduce th reisk
- Join an asthma patient's association
Asthma should not prevent you from doing things that you want to do if it is managed properly. Sometimes however, people with asthma should be aware of asthma triggers and the measures that you can take to control your asthma.
It is often a good idea to keep an asthma diary and keep a record of when your asthma is noticeably worse than usual or when you have an asthma attack and discuss this with your doctor. This may help you to identify trigger factors and guard against them in the future.
