Eczema

Eczema is a non-contagious condition where the immune system causes the skin to become inflamed and dry.

This causes an uncomfortable and itchy rash which can affect all parts of the body.

Like asthma, eczema is an atopic condition and is more likely to affect those people whose parents have asthma or allergies.

Eczema can be treated but not cured with emollients, corticosteroid ointments, topical immune modulators and antihistamines.

It can be useful for people with eczema to identify allergens and triggers that make their eczema worse and to avoid them where possible.
