Starting in 2007, the EFA Secretariat has organised an event in Brussels called the “EFA Members ‘Meet and Greet’ EU Institutions Training,” which serves the purpose of educating EFA members on the legislative processes of the European Union, while allowing them to interact personally with policymakers. In 2012 EFA hosted its third ‘Meet and Greet’ Training, which took place over one and a half days from 20-21 March. EFA Members gained a general overview of how the EU works and how its policies relate directly or indirectly to people with allergy, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) in Europe. They met and greeted key Commission and European parliament officials, as well as MEPs from their home countries.
