EU Policy Intern (m/f)

To start in March 2013


EFA is the network of European patients’ organisations that represents people with allergy, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at European level. EFA is dedicated in making Europe a place where people with these diseases have the right to best quality of care and safe environment, live uncompromised lives and are actively involved in all decisions influencing their health.


The EU Policy Intern will assist the EU Policy Officer in:


  • Following up EU policy developments related to EFA mission and objectives, monitoring EU institutional activities and calendar,
  • Coordinating EFA responses to relevant policies, researching for and drafting EU policy briefings and positions,
  • Liaising with our network of members and partners,
  • Updating EFA’s website and supporting in producing monthly newsletters,
  • Assisting EFA’s social media presence and development,
  • Organising internal meeting and external events.


You will have the possibility to take responsibility/leadership on specific tasks according to your ability and interest. As part of a small team, you will work closely on a wide range of topics from environment to healthcare and research, thus gaining valuable firsthand experience of the EU public affairs environment in Brussels.


You should have the following experience and qualities:

  • Preferably at the end stage of your studies in EU policy,
  • Good understanding of EU institutions and processes,
  • Interest in health policy in general and in patients’ representation in particular,
  • A perfect knowledge of English (additional languages would be considered a plus),
  • Excellent writing skills,
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office,
  • Expertise using social media (Facebook and Twitter),
  • Good social skills, a keen sense of responsibility and initiative,
  • Willingness to work in a small international team,
  • Availability for occasional evening work and travel.
