The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued a new international report on young people’s health, which is the latest addition to the health behavior in school-aged children (HBSC) study ongoing for over 30 years.

The report presents findings from the 2013/2014 survey on the demographic and social influences on the health of almost 220,000 young people in 42 countries and regions in the WHO European Region and North America. Responding to the survey, young people described their social context, health situation, health behaviour and risk behaviors. Among the risk behaviors they mention are the use of tobacco, alcohol and cannabis, sexual behaviour, fighting and bullying). The report concludes that boys are more likely to take on risks but that tobacco control policies aiming at restricting acess to tobacco among teenagers are curving that tobacco use among this age group.
