For the third consecutive year, the EFA Capacity Building Project is about to start with the aim of leveraging members’ capacity to be involved in our projects and run their own projects and organization in the most effective way benefiting from the project offer for dedicated capacity building based on needs.

Following the results of the survey launched in early 2016 within our membership, two new members will join the project: FFAAIR (France) and Allergy UK. FFAAIR will have a session focused on strengthening the structure of the organisation as well as the relationship with their members, funding partners and external stakeholders. On the other hand, the session in the UK will address the development needs identified in the Capacity Building survey by Allergy UK.

Following the success of last year, two follow-up sessions will be organised with members RESPIRA (Portugal) and FENAER (Spain) who took part in the Capacity Building Project in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The follow-up session will serve to understand the progress made by the organisations in last 12 months and will address specific issues that need further analysis, including project work and communication to be developed together with EFA team.

As usual, the one-day meetings will take place in participants’ respective countries and in their own native language in order to involve all key people in the participating organisations.

Mentoring between associations

One of the novelties introduced in this year’s project is the involvement of other EFA members’ representatives as mentors, to contribute to the discussions and to share their experiences and expertise. Representatives from Allergy UK and from Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation already expressed their interest, other members are welcome.
