8.30 -10.00 Welcome coffee, registration and spirometryJoin us before the start of the conference for a free spirometry test: get your lung capacity assesses with a simple test. It does not take more than 10 minutes.
10.00 - 11.00 Is Horizon 2020 fit to accommodate disease specific research? Is it too late to make it fit for disease purpose? A Member of the European Commission Directorate for Research will open the discussions by presenting the Health part of Horizon 2020, the EU research funding programme.Political leaders will then share their perspectives on the programme, to answer the questions in the title of the session and highlight the added value of patient involvement in research projects, prior to opening the floor to discussions.
11.00 - 11.30 Coffee break and free lung testingRespiratory healthcare professionals will be on-site to offer you a free lung test
11.30 - 12.30 What is the best care for COPD and how can research improve standards of care for COPD? During this session, we will raise awareness of current research deficiencies in the field of COPD and in care; we will inform stakeholders of patient needs through revealing results of EFA’s survey presented in a patient-driven booklet on minimum standards of care for COPD patients in Europe and encourage prompt actions for changes in COPD care and research. Discussions from the perspectives of patients, primary care and research will together highlight the importance of national standards for COPD care.
12.30 – 13.30 Lunch break and free lung testing
13.30 – 14.30 Patients working with academia and policy makers to inform ResearchThe final session of the day will be focusing on the issue of how patient involvement has occurred in EU research and research policymaking as well as how it can improve in the future so patients can influence topics which may directly affect their quality of life thus enabling research based on needs.
14.30 – 15.30 Spirometry
