The European Commission has listed the myAirCoach device as one of the high potential innovations in EU-funded research and innovation projects for the Innovation Radar Prize 2016.

myAirCoach partner IHP (Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics) is developing a smart adapter that can be used with most available inhalers for asthma patients. It monitors all relevant insights needed for assessing adherence to the patient’s care plan and medication. Recorded data are wirelessly transferred to a smartphone, then forwarded to an online health record to continuously improve the treatment. A first working version has already been demonstrated in laboratory environment and has been undertaken as part of myAirCoach. You can support the project and its innovations by voting for our partner IHP, the first under the category “Horizon 2020 ICT Innovator”.

myAirCoach a promising approach for asthma self-management

In a recent video publication of the European Respiratory Society, distinguished medical researchers discuss their views about the problems of reduced medication adherence and medication compliance in the field of respiratory diseases. Dr Omar Usmani from Imperial College of London, underlines important parameters of these issues as they are related to the conduction of randomized research studies, the training of patients and healthcare professionals for the proper use and prescription of inhaled medication doses and introduces MyAirCoach project as a promising approach for the support of self-management and the decision support of health care professionals.
