EFA Deputy Director Roberta Savli was elected as second Vice-President to the Global Asthma and Allergy Patients’ Platform (GAAPP) during the last annual general meeting of the association, which took place on the 16th of June in Helsinki. EFA is a member of the organisation that brings 33 patients’ organisations worldwide.

“It is an honour for me to be part of this group of committed patients’ representatives who fight for better health and quality of life of patients with allergy and asthma worldwide. I would put my 6+ years of experience in the European arena at the service of the organisation to reach similar standards of care and better prevention everywhere in the world,” declared Roberta. Susanna Palkonen took part in the Scientific Meeting of the GAAPP the previous day in which eminent scientists updated and discussed with the global patient audience on atopic eczema, and newest knowledge and what that means for patients. Also the newest survey results for people with severe asthma were discussed and the fact that since EFA’s Fighting for Breath Survey some 5 years ago, not much has changed for these people in terms of their expectations and limitations they experience in their daily life. EFA contributed as patient advisor to the survey done by Novartis. The third topic was EAACI’s new guidelines coming up for allergen specific immunotherapy, in which EFA has had the change to be involved and expressed interest for the development lay and patient adapted materials.
