In June EFA organised its Annual General Meeting & Networking Day in Rome and met with its members to discuss EFA’s work and future plans.Our key highlight this month was our symposium ‘Patients with Respiratory Allergy Call to Action.We have also been busy monitoring EU policy developments especially the Tobacco Product Directive and taking part in key meetings providing patient perspective. EFA organised a symposium on our Call to Action on respiratory allergies in the framework of the EAACI-WAO Congress 2013 held in June in Milan.  The Call to Action was introduced there as well as the Allergy Alert paper calling for harmonisation and promotion of Allergology education. In June EFA took active part in the Green Week 2013 conference focused on air quality. EFA’s EU Policy Officer Roberta Savli presented on empowering EU citizens and suggested concrete actions to be taken in order to effectively fight air pollution. EFA has been closely monitoring developments in EU policy especially as regards the proposed Tobacco Product Directive (TPD) and Regulation of Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases. EFA office has kept on analysing proposed amendments to both acts and advocating for those which will help put people off smoking and guarantee the continuity of treatment for patients with asthma, allergy and COPD. Read More...

In June EFA brings you news from members in Portugal and Ireland. The Portuguese organisation RESPIRA launched an awareness campaign on COPD and respiratory diseases and our Irish member Astma Society of Ireland organised a free Asthma Clinic.  Read More...

EFA represented patient’s perspective all around Europe. We gave advice on socio-economic inequalities in smoking, took part in a summer school for patients’ advocates and presented on  food labelling.
