The European Commission and the Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (EXPH) have launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion on the “Access to health services in the European Union”.

The preliminary opinion addresses barriers to accessing health care and explores policy measures that can overcome them. Ways to improve equity could include matching health needs and financial resources, affordable and accessible health services, the availability of a sufficient number of health workers with the right skills, well-equipped facilities within easy reach, the availability of quality medicines and medical devices and services that are relevant and cost-effective. The preliminary opinion pays special attention to access to health services for underserved groups as Roma, undocumented migrants and people with mental health problems.

The Expert Panel is now seeking feedback from the scientific community and stakeholders on its opinion on Access to health services in the European Union.

All interested parties are invited to submit specific comments, suggestions, explanations or contributions on the scientific basis of the opinion, as well as any other scientific information regarding the questions addressed.

The deadline for submissions is the 6th November 2015

EFA will be contributing to this consultation based on the evidence from our projects and the EU projects that we are participating in.
