For patients requiring oxygen on board planes, an ordinary flight can turn into a nightmare. The current EU regulation allows air travel with medical oxygen equipment but the oxygen itself is currently provided by airlines as a complementary service for passengers. 

The simple fact of flying with oxygen can be very stressful and airlines companies don’t help. Rules regarding the use of oxygen on flights vary considerably between airlines in Europe, and they can be prohibitively expensive can be for passengers suffering from respiratory diseases.
