EFA’s contribution on allergy action at EU and national level was presented to the Italian Ministry of Health by a delegation formed by patients, doctors, and researchers. Mobile health applications are quickly evolving and they can provide an interesting opportunity to support self-management of people with allergy, asthma and COPD. MyAirCoach just officially started with the kick-off project meeting in Greece. The project, funded by EU Horizon 2020, aims to develop a holistic mHealth personalised asthma and COPD monitoring system to empower patients managing their own health. January was full of opportunities to link up patients with other communities: we presented in a training for primary care doctors in Italy, we participated in a symposium on allergy with educational professionals in France, and we supported the European Respiratory Society campaign launch in Brussels, to name a few. Patients raised awareness on the needs and challenges of people with asthma, allergy and COPD in national televisions in January. Allergy UK closely worked with BBC to feature the lives of parents of little allergic children and Bulgarian ABBA drove the patients discomfort with the Government plans on reimbursement reduction for COPD treatments.
