Tobacco kills 32 people a day in Portugal. To raise awareness of the main cause of COPD, RESPIRA in partnership with a group of pharmacies set up a campaign at national level to draw attention about the relation between COPD and tobacco and offering free spirometry tests in May.
The members of the association distributed posters with the slogan “After a cigarette nothing remains the same! AVOID COPD! STOP SMOKING!” to invite people to have a spirometry test in hospitals and health centers, from 23 to 31 of May. RESPIRA was very active on social media and in national media, with interview in newspapers and TV shows.
