For the fifth time, the European Health Parliament (EHP) has started its work in late November. The EHP connects and empowers the next generation of European health leaders to rethink EU health policies and provide recommendations for improvement.

Each year the EHP convenes a group of 60 young professionals representing all healthcare sectors. Participants work together for six months to develop policy recommendations that address todays’ most pressing European health issues. At EFA we are happy that EFA’s Maximilian Kunisch has been nominated to participate in the committee on “sustainable and healthy lifestyles”.

Think digital, think global, think patient

Health systems are facing big pressure to adapt their spending and recourses to match changing demographics, rising disease burdens, stronger patient empowerment and modern technologies. Under the general framework of “think digital, think global, think patient”, in this fifth edition the EHP’s committees will further address the following topics:

- Tackling cancer in Europe

- Europe as health innovation hub

- Interconnected care

- Mental health and healthy workforce

With the first plenary session in early December, the work of EHP has officially started. At EFA we will closely follow its work and look forward to seeing some forward-looking and innovative policy recommendations to the benefit of chronic disease patients in Europe. We also look forward to congregate the ‘European Allergy and Asthma Youth Parliament’ meeting with the Interest Group on Allergy and Asthma next year.
