EFA’s Capacity Building Programme has served to strengthen the organisational, advocacy, and communication skills of our membership for eight years. In 2022, EFA conducted several capacity building sessions  developed to strengthen the advocacy and communications capacity of our network and to prepare Members to make the most of their membership at EFA at European level.

Follow-up in-person trainings with EFA trial members in Serbia (Alergjia i ja) and Slovenia (Društvo AD) to help them with their development as organisation.

Sustainable mentorship between two members the French FFAAIR and the Austrian Lung Union, to build enduring relationships for the sake of skill and knowledge sharing. EFA provided with external organisation assessments resulting in concrete action plans and management strategies.

 

Advocacy training for 10 participants promoting policy change at EU and national levels. The session used the new EFA DIG_IT Report and the Atopic Eczema Consensus Europe Toolkit as advocacy examples.

Youth Leadership Training

Youth Leadership Training for 15 allergy and asthma patient advocates from the European Allergy and Asthma Youth Parliament and unaffiliated young patients around advocacy, public speaking and the role of civil society.

Meet & Greet the EU: EMA for 15 participants from EFA Members, expert patients, and Youth Parliament members in hybrid attendance. The sessions focused on the extended mandate of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the setup of the Health and Emergency Response Authority (HERA), and Clinical Trials Regulation. All the three new EU developments are crucial for allergy, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients in Europe.

After the event, participants reported feeling more empowered to take part in medicines research and development processes at EMA as well as more comfortable sharing information about clinical trials with their membership.
