The European Parliament elections are fastly approaching and through this information channel, we call on all the readers of our Newsletter to take a piece of responsibility into their hands and contact the current Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and future candidates to present EFA’s Manifesto to help to ensure that the needs and concerns of people with allergy, asthma and COPD are put on the top of the political agenda. EFA, in collaboration with patient experts from all over Europe, identified three priority areas and fourteen actions to be included in the programmes of future potential politicians to improve the health and quality of life of people with allergy and respiratory diseases in Europe. It is very important that all the Europeans use their right to vote in the European Parliament elections. Even though these elections are often overlooked, the impact of decisions made by Members of European Parliament is high and can affect lives of people with allergies, asthma and COPD in their respective countries. You may remember dossiers as the Tobacco Products Directive, the Medical Devices or the Clinical Trials Regulations. These massive legislations that affect all citizens of the European Union are done by representatives that we select. The candidate lists in all Member States of the European Union are continuously being updated at this website. It is only 83 days left before the first day of European Parliament elections, so use the opportunity to influence quality of life of people with allergy, asthma and COPD and European citizens in general. Practical information on the elections is available here.   The EFA’s Manifesto was launched in October 2013. Until now, there have been 527 signatures collected including four current MEPs Keith Taylor from United Kingdom and Piotr Borys, Adam Gierek and Joanna Senyszyn from Poland.
