The Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission released the Final Report on the scoping study on communication in preventing and addressing chronic diseases.

The study, published by ICF International, aims to develop a strong basis for the design of effective communications tools and cross-border campaigns to tackle chronic disease at European level.

It provides an overview of the key communication issues and identifies the characteristics of existing good practice. The study focuses on the four main risks of factors for chronic disease, i.e., smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and alcohol consumption, gathering a varied and wide evidence base, and highlighting the role of formative research and strategic partnerships in successful campaigning.

EFA contributed to the study by providing its expertise on smoking-related issues. You can read the report in full here.
