The last EARIP partner meeting celebrated in London last 23rd of February served to present the 15 most important asthma research priorities for future investment. The identified priorities relate to overarching themes such as personalised medicine, risk factors, self-management and public health.

EFA presented the recommendations for healthcare system change in asthma which include, among others, the need for patient-centered approach and tailor-made interventions, the creation of minimum standards of care for asthma in Europe, prioritizing prevention strategy (especially regarding air quality), the adoption of a multi-disciplinary approach and continuous education for both patients and healthcare professionals.

Other results relate to mechanisms for the development of asthma, phenotypic stratification, diagnosis, monitoring and self-management.

EARIP consortium partners will now focus on the integration and the promotion of these results to realise the vision of a European Innovation Partnership in Asthma. Many dissemination activities will take place, including the presentation of the results in relevant external conferences, such as the American Thoracic Society Conference and the European Respiratory Society Congress. Advocacy actions including EFA members and people with asthma will be launched during next EFA AGM in London.
