The European Medicines Agency (EMA) organised a workshop on Social Media arising from the work of EMA Social Media Topic Group. EFA Isabel Proaño is member of the topic group. The workshop gathered patients, consumers, healthcare professionals and regulatory bodies representatives. During the meeting participants learnt about the development of social media (different channels and tools), discussed how social media could influence regulatory decisions and patient behaviours and learnt about how the analysis of social media data (what users are publishing on Facebook or Twitter) is allowing to know more about unreported health trends form specific diseases, like post-partum depression or pollen allergies.
