The alarming figures from the latest report from the Commission and the OECD ‘Health at Glance’, show that a substantial patient population is not regularly covered for health care costs.

The European Patients' Forum (EPF) has launched a one-year campaign on Universal Health Coverage to raise awareness about the barriers patients face in accessing healthcare and to propose key political steps, actions and recommendations that EU decision makers and member states need to take in order to achieve universal health coverage for all patients in the EU.

According to the UN Sustainable Goal on health, Members States have committed to achieving universal health coverage by 2030. EPF call on EU Institutions and Member States to overturn the current trends of short sighted decisions on investment in healthcare, and to make a real commitment to realising universal access for all by 2030.

The campaign is focused on 5 areas:

  1. Providing Quality of Care across the EU

  2. Committing to Sustainable Investment in Health

  3. Encouraging Affordability of Healthcare Products and Services

  4. Implementing Access to a Holistic Range of Health and Social Services

  5. Ending Discrimination and Stigma Patients Are Facing in Healthcare

You can endorse the campaign by signing the petition

The petition will be submitted to the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union.

As EPF member, EFA fully endorses this campaign, which firmly supports our priorities for people with any allergy, asthma and COPD in Europe, agreed with our members.
