Allergy

EFA Member, the Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation organized its yearly campaign, Allergy Week, in April. This year the campaign theme was chemicals used in textiles. Textile industry uses more than 3,500 chemicals in textiles, some 10 % of them might be harmful for health. The messages of the campaign are clear: It’s good to wash the brand-new clothes before the first use. Don’t buy strongly smelling textiles. Don’t use clothes that cause symptoms.

Mert Otsamo, a well-known fashion designer in Finland, participated (non-profit) by designing a unisex garment for the Allergy Week. Limited amount of this design shirt was produced by using Öko-Text and GOTS certified textile. Otsamo also ‘gave his face’ for the campaign poster.
