EFA participated in the global GARD (Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases) meeting 2017 that took place in Brussels, Belgium the 9-11 November, represented by EFA Secretary of the Board Carlos Nunes who participated in a video interview about patient-center guidelines; and EFA Director of Strategy and Policy Roberta Savli.

GARD is a World Health Organisation (WHO)  lead initiative to tackle chronic respiratory diseases. It is a voluntary alliance of national and international organizations, institutions, and agencies committed towards the common goal to reduce the global burden of respiratory diseases. EFA is part of this alliance as patient’s representatives.  

The work of WHO on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), COPD, mHealth, outdoor and indoor air pollution role for asthma, allergy and COPD patients where only few of the subjects touched during this meeting, as well as the future of GARD itself and how different stakeholders can work together to raise chronic respiratory diseases high in the political agenda, in Europe and globally.
