EFA is participating to a new EU research project, ‘Combining Artificial Intelligence and smart sensing TOward better management and improved quality of LIFE in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease’, or TOLIFE.
TOLIFE will clinically validate an artificial intelligence (AI) solution to process real world patient data captured by unobstructive sensors to optimise personalised treatment, prevent exacerbation, and improve the assessment of health outcomes for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
To ensure the project is patient centred, EFA has begun recruitment for a Patient Advisory Group (PAG). The PAG, consisting of at least 10 COPD patients, carers and patient representatives, will advise project partners on ethical concerns, research protocols, acceptability and feasibility of sensors and the development of patient self-management tools.
