- Chemicals

EFA participated for the first time to the European Chemical Agency’s (ECHA) communicator’s network meeting on the 19th October, as a civil society representative affected by the daily use of chemicals. The meeting focused on the REACH legislation, the most important legislation setting chemical use in Europe and adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. We contributed with the discussions as the only patient representatives, with ideas and comments to inform certain layers of the public, beyond industry and business declaration of their use of chemicals. Although it seems there is still a long way to go to promote patient friendly information on chemicals, we are happy to be able to input into ECHA’s work with the allergy, asthma and COPD patients’ perspective.
